Topic Brainstorm
I like the idea of using images as prompts for my project stories. I often look to pictures for inspiration so I know it is something that I will enjoy doing. An example of one of the 32 popular forms of Ganesha from the Divine Iconography page gave me a little bit of inspiration. Ganesha is holding many different weapons and I thought about a possible “true story” behind the inscription. The idea was that maybe Ganesha struggles to keep all his hands from intertwining, holding all the weapons, and he is having a hard time juggling them. I think pulling a story from these pictures would be fun. This is definitely going to be an idea I really think about.

Celestial weapons are always amazing. What would be an interesting idea is to take the point of view of the weapons of the Gods and tell the story from their perspective. I don’t think I could take the point of views of an Astra, but the other weapons like Kaundinya’s bow could be possible. This list of weapons from Indian mythology will be helpful. Since we will be reading the Ramayana, the Chandrahas sword would be one that I can think about as I read the story.
I love creation stories. They are some of my favorite types of stories, because I feel like there is a lot of different ways to take them into a different form. Wikipedia articles suggested are on Hindu cosmology and Hindu evolution (creative myths section). The research tip mentioned that there is a small debate about Manu or Yama being the first (mortal) man. A fun story could be to take that contradiction and have the two argue it over. This project idea is also really well-suited for making poetry.
I saw the movie Hisssss a few weeks ago and I am smitten with the idea of Nagini so this project idea immediately caught my eye. The Wikipedia article over Nagas was informative. It mentioned they can be guardians of treasure, which could be a cool tidbit to use in my project.
